Why things are awkward between me and k d lang
I was bussing table at a now defunct restaurant in Vancouver. She came in with a friend of hers and she had a salad I served to her. I offered the pepper mill but she simply shook her head. Didn’t talk to me and was quite shy towards me. Not the most positive experience, but not really negative either.
Why I want to meet whoopi goldberg
I would love it if she were to do a film out here and I had a role. Being background, I’d be unable to interact with her, unless I were her photo double or stand-in. So often, people say I remind them of her, simply because we have dreadlocks and we’re black women.
Why I admire James "Amazing" Randi
Just the fact that he debunks people who claim to be telepathic or psychic, and that he was/is a magician and admits that it’s all trickery. Plus he looks like Santa Claus!
Who introduced me to Colin Mochrie
His sister, Lorraine. We met through the Vancouver TheatreSport League and we became roommates about a year later. Her family came to visit to check out our place and Colin was there. He was quite and modest and his wife was delightful. Their son was a toddler still, but it was a simple family gathering of hers. I later saw him perform at the Arts Club Theatre Revue stage and he was amazing! Too bad I didn’t get any photos of the thing too.
How I met Leanna Brodie
I was at my favourite hangout a the Mondragon when I saw my director for the monologue show we were doing. When I talked to her, she told me that Leanna Brodie was meeting her there. When she arrived, I gradually approached her, had her sign my copy of the script then had a photo taken of the two of us. She won’t be seeing the show as she’s left the city, but at least I met her in the flesh.
